Join Queer Run Club and the YWCA St. John’s LGBTQIA+ Newcomer Peer Support Group for a morning of walking, chatting, and enjoying the beautiful views of The Battery!
Queer Run Club is a walking and running group for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. This collaboration with YWCA will createa space for LGBTQIA+ immigrants and refugees to connect with 2SLGBTQIA+ Canadians and/or other newcomers. It will be a great opportunity to explore a scenic part of the city, meet new people, practice English, and learn about how to stay involved with the Queer Run Club.
At 10am, we will gather outside The Battery Cafe for introductions and a short group activity. Then, we will walk through The Battery and onto North Head Trail. We won't be walking the full trail- we will stop around the entrance of The Narrows. Then, we will walk back to The Battery Cafe. Afterward, you are welcome to stay at the cafe to have a coffee and continue chatting!
In total, we will walk about 3.6 kilometers (1.8km each way). The route is a relatively flat walk, but please note that there is one portion of the road that is a little steep. We expect it will take around 1 hour, or maybe longer if we are taking our time and chatting.
