Free Tax Clinics

YWCA St. John’s hosts year-round free tax clinics that serve women, gender diverse folks and 2SLGBTQIA+ newcomers! If you identify within these groups of people and would like tax filing support, please read on for more info or reach out at the contact information below.

As part of our free tax clinics, we can file on your behalf or we can support you in accessing the information you need to file for yourself - it depends on your tax situation and what works best for you:

  • If you have a modest income and a simple tax situation, we can file on your behalf through CRA’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) for tax years 2014 to 2023.

  • If your tax situation is more complex or you’re interested in filing your own taxes, we can guide you in accessing the information and software you need to file on your own.

If you would like to learn about free tax clinics and whether your tax situation is simple or complex, please contact us or read more at: canada.ca/taxes-help

You can also book an appointment with our free tax clinic by clicking here or you can reach out to our Financial Empowerment Coordinator directly at (709) 771-7454 (call or text) or at rosie@ywcastjohns.ca.
